Potsdam Rock Orchestra...

Potsdam Rock Orchestra set the stage for the first time on December 5th, 2007, under the musical direction of Ron Cuevas. The band formed in the beginning of September 2007 when Cuevas picked passionate musicians, all from the Crane School of Music, to dedicate their time to a band with no known future. After weeks of rehearsals and practicing, PRO hit the stage at SUNY Potsdam’s Barrington Union Multi-Purpose Room, with a set that Potsdam has never experienced before... a set of Christmas music by the legendary band Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The band proved themselves to be one of the best acts Potsdam has seen take the stage with a full concert sound system and light show that added to the dramaticism of the music.

The Founder...

Ron Cuevas is currently a saxophone student at the Crane School of Music, where he is studying for his Bachelors of Music in Music Education. Before he came to school, Ron played in multiple local bands, some of which include: RNR (saxophone and guitar), Outrage (guitar and vocals), and Phoenix. At the age of 10 he began teaching himself guitar. One of his biggest influences is Neil Schon from Journey, but he has also been highly influenced by Trans-Siberian Orchestra as his inspiration for Potsdam Rock Orchestra. As part of PRO, Ron spends much of his time rehearsing, but also writing many of the transcriptions of the music.

The Dream...

Ron always had a vision in his head of playing in a rock band that was accompanied by an orchestra. When Ron was a senior in High School, the sight of rock band and orchestra came alive when he saw Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform in Albany, New York. That day he knew that someday, the Potsdam Rock Orchestra would be a reality.
